I so love lighthouse, but have never seen one only in pics and I'm wanting to go soooo bad. I am so intrigued with lighthouses that I am certain they were part of my past life... Helen in Merritt

Great site. I've always been proud of the lighthouses where I live on the east coast of America, but to know that your Canadian lights are still manned is truly amazing. I hope that they do not become automated. That would be a crying shame. BC looks so amazing! Where do I sign up to man a lighthouse?

i really enjoyed the picture you have of lighthouses thank you

I love visiting lighthouses. The unique thing about them is there are no two alike. I have visited many in the USA and look forward to visiting as many as possible in Canada. Your web site is fantastic with great pictures and information.

Great Web Site.

The photo's brought back fond memories of my childhood living on the lights. I would like to hear from any that have the same experiences.

It is great to realize how wonderful our lands can became, if and when we get the wright people, who is looking after all of us.
There quite a great number of wonders around - it is necessary someone to watch for, and via pictures present them to everybody.
Thanks for your work, and for the opportunity to see some of the great pictures.

I have just returned home after 36 days of kayaking solo around Vancouver Island and I want to thank everyone that I met along my journey for their assistance and consideration in helping me achieve my goal. I want to thank in particular the coast guard who are there around the clock to assist you with your every need and the keepers at Cape Scott light house who I am forever gratefull for their hospitallity for providing me with food and shelter during a time of great need.
|
Thankyou for such of a fantastic web site. I have recently returned from teacher exchange in Vancouver where I was lucky enough to visit some of these magnificent lighthouses! I'm currently in search of a web sight by the photographer Jean Guichard (I think) who specializes in lighthouses, anyone know where I can find such a site.
Thanks Kate.

I grew up on five different lighthouses on the B.C. coast and moved back on to lighthouses for three years after my husband and I got married. I've seen many of these lighthouses and I'am thrilled to find a website that can show everybody our beautiful B.C. lights. They are to be treasured as we are one of the few countries with manned lighthouses still in operation. Even though our goverment feels that manned lighthouse have passed there usefulness, if you've ever been in a broken down boat and rescued by a lighthousekeeper you know otherwise! Thank you for a wonderful site to share these beautiful pictures with the world.
|
Great website! Lots of good information. I found a few of the lighthouses on my own, but had no idea there were so many! Thanks for helping me on my treasure hunt!
|
I am amazed at all the lightstations. I had no idea. This is a beautiful website. I makes me want to head north immediately.
|
It was wonderful to have the opportunity to meet such kind people at the Cape Scott lighthouse. After hiking for 6 hrs. friendly faces, cold water, and a refreshing freezie made the trip all the more enjoyable. You Coast Guards are doing great work! Thanks Mike, Charlotte, Todd and Harvey. All the best with your new placement M and C.

Very nice website! I am looking for the fresnel lens that were used with these old channel marker lights, any help or information would be appreciated! Thank you

I had the option the other evening to surf the net on lighthouses on the B.C. coast. and to see that they are still man by people and not automated as so many have been in the past. years ago when I flew up and down the B.C coast and you were down on the deck because the weather was so bad, It was alway comforting to look over and see the old lighthouse and know you were not alone. And God knows it was a place to go if you were in real trouble and real people would be there to help you if needed. I also had the pleasure to email a chap that works the lights and he informs me that the government is still trying to automate the lighthouses,I think that it would be a bloody shame if that happens. As far as I am concerned I want to talk to a person not a machine when I want a weather report, plus if one did require help I can't see a machine coming out in a long boat to give me a hand. To the people who work the coast in all weather condition the light keeper is very important person in telling you weather reports, sea condition, and to help if needed. I hope you folks will be around for a long time to come-------spd

Beautiful site!! Think I'll plan a light house tour vacation.

Thank you for your help. My husband and I are building our own yard sized lighthouse
complete with rocks and pond. Your site helped us find the right lighthouse for us.

My wife and I were very fortunate to visit the Fisgard lighthouse on our holiday in your beautiful province in 1998. It was great.

Great site, it has helped us with info on BC lights before we visit them. We are big lighthouse fans and have visited or seen over 550 lights. We collect post cards of the lights. We would like to TRADE FOR BC LIGHTHOUSE POST CARDS. We have many of US and some of Canada and other countries. Please contact us if you have any to trade ( or sell ).
|
I have really enjoyed the information that I have found here at this site. Thank you.
|
What great pictures on an interesting site! Finally I've found the exact locations of those few unfamiliar lights mentioned on the coast guard weather reports. Ah, don't we live in a beautiful part of the world. And so little time to see it all. Tomorrow I'll have a far off look at Sisters from the Lasqueti Island ferry. a closer look here. Thanks.

You are doing a great job. What a marvelous blessing for the children -- and their parents!!
