|
I really enjoyed finding this site. I will keep returning to read it a lot more.

Great site. Keep up the great work. This is a shout to anyone who might know Steve DeLury in California. We used to be internet buddies but due to a move and career change on my part I lost track of him. If anyone knows how to get in touch with him or knows where he is please email me. I'd like to get in touch with him. Thanks

I am a lighthouse buff from Australia and
enjoyed your photos very much.
I am planing an extended holiday in Canada
next year which of course will include the visit
to as many lighthouses as possible.

great pictures of beautiful lighthouses.
GREAT SITE!!.

Hey, just a little addition to my last note. My grandparents were Jack and Lilian Payne, just incase anyone on browsing this site might remember them from a long time ago :-)
|
hello! I was hoping someone could give me some pointers. My grandparents were lighthouse keepers on Vancouver Island in the 70s. I beleive, but am not sure, that one of the points was Lucy Island. I am wondering where I would search to find out where else they lighthouse kept, and when. I believe it is an important part of our family's history, but unfortunately both my grandparents are passed away now. Does anyone know where I should start to look? Thanks for any suggestions!! :-)
|
I just met a lighthouse keeper from Cape Beale via ICQ chat. We chatted for a while very easily and smoothly. That's a good sign. I look forward to coming to the Island really soon, so I can visit all the beautiful places and meet my new chat buddy.
|
I love this site! The pictures are so beautiful. I lived on Dryad Point for sixteen years and visiting this site reminds me of what I call home. There is nothing like growing up on a lighthouse...nothing. No matter where I am Dryad is always "my" home.
Old friends, neighbours..feel free to drop me a line.

Its nice to see the pix of the lighthouse which we see from our home in Q Bay. Great site
enjoy the day
|
Wonderful site! Hail to the lightkeeper! All lighthouses bring back wonderful memories for me. I grew up spending time on the Chesapeake Bay(MD USA) and at Cape Hatteras (NC USA). Thank you for putting your time into this.
|
Good to see there are still manned lights in operation. I was 24 years with the Northern Lighthouse Board. Miss it like hell. My last station was Hyskeir off the west coast, roughly 50 west of Oban, Argyll.
|
Great site - - - - we do live on the best Coast !
Doing some searching on a lighthouse mom took me to back in 1951 when living in a wee place up the coast called Bella Bella / Shearwater. As I was only 3 1/2 at the time I
don't recall too much of it. Thanks to your site I now can see it was Dryad Point Lightstation!
How cool is that ! cheers mate - - - :-)
|
Excellent web page. Greetings from Larry Bishop.
|
Scarlet Point Lighthouse is the prettiest but A. Point in Ucluelet is the best!!
|
I've lived on six lightstations on the west coast. Two of them were my childhood homes for 13 years, and the others were a vain attempt to hang on to a life that did me no favours. When I found myself dumped into city life after my father retired I suffered from severe cultural shock with no support of any kind. I will always love my life on the lights, but feel that I was incarcerated for something I didn't do. It was a lovely dream, and I've woken into a nightmare.
|
I love this sight - and re-check it every so often - when I need a release my frazzled, frenetic world!
My Dad and Mom (Ray and Ruth Salo) were Lightkeepers at Addenbrooke (sorry folks.....Addenbrooke as TWO oos!) from 1962 to 1977, when they retired.
It was a wondrous time for my two brothers, my sister, and myself!
No TV, no N64, no phone, no movies, no shopping malls - and we were never bored! I only wish that I could take my now-grown daughter back, for a walk through my childhood - so, she could see why I so treasure my lighthouse years.
If there's anyone out there who grows nostalgic when they hear the names, Addenbrooke, Dawson's Landing, Finn Bay, Rivers Inlet, Wadhams, Good Hope, and many others - feel free to drop me a line!

Good Afternoon,
We are interested in purchasing photos of some the lighhouses; who do we contact and where?
|
The expanse of God's Beauty is truly shown in these pictures. Like the beautiful natural world he made, he made a beautiful plan for mankind

Hi, Enjoyed your page. Your site is also linked on our Victoria Cruising Club webpage.
|
I've alway's been into lighthouses ever since I was young. I'm an artist. I'm painting all lighthouses from all over on old doors.
And starting now in British Columbia.
|
My father was the Superintendent of Lights 1960 till not sure early 80's and then the District Marine Adj. Prince Rupert. I have met many Lightkeepers and their families over the years I am the oldest of 5 girls. All our names start with L. My dad Edgar Dennis Harris passed Oct 8/87. I have fond memories of Lucy, Triple ,Green ,McGinnis, Ivory and especially Egg Is. I was part of the construction crew who built the Heli Pad on top of the Hill. I was the cook for the crew. Peter Drent head carpentar. I also worked in the personel office in Prince Rupert with Donna Shepard and crewed the ships Alex Mac, Wolf,(Arth Black) ClusTung, Point Henry. I also worked in the Victoria office for a short period while someone was on leave about 6 weeks I think. I ran into some long time CCG people I believe I met at our house in Vic and also PR.
Take care......

OUTSTANDING! The isolation on some of those islands makes one appreciate the special type of person or family it would take to man them. It certainly gives you more respect for the under paid civil servants (BC light housekeepers) who have risked their lives to save mariners in peril. I have never heard of any of the (BC) Light Housekeepers (the eyes and ears of the most trecherous coast in the world) complain about the risk they endure when they go out in a storm to rescue fellow mariners, that has happened dozens of times for each Light house keeper I would imagine. My Concern is for fellow mariners who depend on live light house reports and find it appalling to think the Government would elliminate BC Light House Keepers to save a few dollars and put boaters at risk on the BC Coast.
Respectfully,
Darrell and Family

Hi! Nice to see this site. I lived on 5 lighthouses in total, from '59 to '64. It was an exciting time for me as a teenager! If anyone has pictures of Pine Island, Pultney Point, Sisters, Cape Beale, or Estevan that they might like to share, it would be greatly appreciated! I am trying to write my memoirs to pass down to my family. Thanks!
|
Great WebSite - I was 42 years at Bamfield C.G. LifeBoat Stn - Spent a lot of years on West Coast Life Saving Trail with my Dad Walter (& dogs). Much time at Pachena & Cape Beale Lighthouses.
Thankyou KEEP this book going, Dave H.
