I have just started researching my father's family "Mudge" from Torquay, Devon England, and my parents asked me if I could find a correlation to Mudge Bay & Cape Mudge in British Columbia, could you direct me to the history or where I might find it.

GREAT SITE!!...I live on Long Island, NY (approx.50 miles from New York City). My hobby is researching lighthouses around the world & I have to say...YOU HAVE A GREAT SITE!!...KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

My husband works for the Coast Guard and his job is to maintain the lighthouses on the eastern coast of the U.S. from Maine to Southern New Jersey. I have always been fascinated by lighthouses and have accumulated a collection of photos of lighthouses from all over the world. The web site is wonderful with many great photos.

Great site. I work for the Lightship 2000 in Cardiff Bay. It was a working lightship, stationed off the Gower peninsula, now it has been converted to a floating Christian Centre, with a galley serving refreshments. Visitors can climb the Light tower, go down to the cabins, visit the chapel. In fine weather you can sit on the helideck where the helicopters used to land. If you visit Wales, come and see us.Everyone welcome, no admission charge

Hi there, when are you going to update the site for Egg Island on the West Coast? I know that there are new light house keepers there, but their names are not on the site.
Please update.
|
I read in the Lighthouse Digest about Egg Island Lighthouse disaster and there is no mention of it here at all. It was a horrible experience for the Wilkins family.
|
Enjoy your site, I do Birdfeeders stylized on our B.C Lighthouses your site has been a real help.

I just love lighthouses and surfed the web where I found your page. Thank you very much for letting me enjoy all your lighthouse pictures

I have stories of old when my grandma was a little girl living in the lighthouse .. her father was the keeper of the light. We would sit for hours and imagine the ships sailing off in the distance, from far off lands. This would be in the early 1900's .. my grandma was born in 1902 and died in 1994. Her fondest memories were of living in the lighthouse.

This site is awsome.

Fun to see something so different than what it looks like where I live! Thanks!

Just returned home from a trip up the Inside Passage on the M.V. Queen of the North (B.C. Ferry) Took lots of lighthouse photos. Your site made it very easy to identify each station along the way. Thanks for such a wonderful site. Looking forward to returning to B.C. some day.

I have been a huge fan of lighthouses for as long as I can remember. I am getting married next year and would love to get married beside one but I am having trouble finding one with landscaped grounds that I may be able to get access to. If anyone out there reads this and can think of one..preferably on the mainland of BC (Vancouver) or Vancouver Island ---please email me...it would be greatly appreciated.

I am an avid collector of lighthouse postcards. I am constantly looking on the internet to see new lighthouse information. Your site is beautiful. The lighthouses are great. Just wish I had postcards of all of them.
|
Furthur to my contribution about Lawyer Island light, I can now be reached at a new e-mail address.
|
I have loved lighthouses for 10 years. I am so glad to see that over the years they have become more loved by different people. I am looking for someone to write to and to be a pen pal with to keep up with everything and just to chat.
|
The West Coast of Vancouver is my most favorite place in the whole world. To me it's what a lot of North America felt like before the human population exploded, and became 'citified'.
|
Nice pictures.

i was just lookin gon the internet because i used to live on the lighthouses i was on them for about 9 years and still think about the good times i had, i just wanted to thank the people that put together this wonderful site

Good Morning!(my apologies if this is the 2nd time you receive this e-mail!)
Last week while on vacation my friends and I had the opportunity to use the Washinton State Ferry Service to Sidney, BC from Anacortes, WA ....it was a very pleasant and relaxing two hour trip.
I managed to take some beautiful photographs while on the ferry....I love to photograph lighthouses.....
Not too far ...maybe a couple of miles ....out from Sidney, BC I managed to get a photograph of what appears to be a small lighthouse on the tip of an island. Can you name or identify this for me?
I thought maybe it was the light at Turn Point on the tip of one of the San Juan Islands...but my photo does not look like any of the reference photos that I have of that light!
The light I photographed definitely was a white tower with a red top (unlike the book/web photos of Turn Pt Light)....As far as location it appeared to be at some pass through which a freighter made its transit. I was on the north side of the ferry when I took the photo. This lighthouse(?) was a white tower with a red roof over the lantern room at the tip of this island...from my vantage point I could not see any other structures (like a keepers' house). However, the trees may have blocked these from my view. Is it at all possible that it is the Active Pass Light Station on Mayne Isl. ...By the maps that I looked at I do not think we were near that island...or were we?
If you can either identify this lighthouse or point me to a source of information about this light I would greatly appreciate it very much....I have sent a similar e-mail to the WSF service but have had no reply to date.....
Thank you for your time
Sue H.
Ps....my scanner is not working so I cannot send you a copy of my photo at this time :/

I have just returned from a visit to Vancouver (mainland and island) and my hosts pointed out Race Rocks Lighthouse to me from a distance. Now I know, from your lovely photographs, what it looks like from up close. Thank you.

I was jr keeper at Mudge and Pointer in the 60's. Would be interested in hearing from Lorraine, Karen and Sharon Bigelow of Pointer if they see this.
