Greetings! Just had to stop by this site again and check out your guest book.Lovely place to visit with sentimental worth to my husband and I. My husband,s Great, Great Grandfather, George Davies was first full-time lighthouse keeper on Canada,s west coast, serving at both Fisgard and Race Rocks lighthouses.Arriving in 1860 with his wife and children , to fill his contract. The family encountered numerous tragedies after their arrival, difficult business being a light keeper back in those early days! George,s son, James Davies was also later a lighthouse keeper at Carmanah (1912)and we believe other lighthouses as well. He also encountered trouble while at Carmanah. Hoping descendants will check out this site, come across my entry here, and contact me! Would love to surprise my husband! If anyone out there has info on this family please email me. Thanks again!

Home sick on a sunday afternoon and decided to check out your web site. A trip down nostalgia lane. I am the son of a Gerald Watson, last lighthouse keeper at Point Atkinson Lighthouse. Nice to look at the places our family use to live on. Green Island, Boat Bluff, Pine Island, Chrome Island and Point Atkinson lighthouse were the lighthouse we lived on. Many fond memories. Good web site. An excellent find.

I would be interested in a site to detail what is being done Canada-wide to preserve the lighthouses of the country. US has the US Lighthouse Society. Does Canada have anything like that.
great site. you missed Pilot Bay lighthouse located on Kootenay Lake in south eastern BC.
It's a wooden structure built just after the turn of the century and decommissioned in 1994
What a beautiful Web Page! I've always been facinated by lighthouses. Since I live inland, the only lighthouse I've seen was on a trip to the New England States.
I love lighthouses. This site is wonderfull as I like looking for lighthouses all over. I'm coming to BC next week and going to check some out on the Island.
Thanks for the site

This site is a real find! Ever since I visited Point Reyes in CA, I've been dying to visit more lighthouses. At least I can see some of the best virtually, if not in person.

We met a lovely couple last year here in Penticton when their VW van broke down. We know they one of two couples who look after a lihgthouse here on the west coast of BC. We don't have their last names but her first name was Val and they love to fish. Would love the connect and get their E-mail as we also lost that.

I love this site and I would feel remiss if I didn't share this site with you of Beautiful Lighthouse Screensavers of regions all over the US

My husband and I will be visiting British Columbia this summer. I was wondering what is the best way to be able to see these lighthouses. Is there a tour or cruise available?
I've just gotten in to Lighthouse thanks to my mother in law. I'm finding them very interesting and amazed at their history and beauty. My buddy Steve DeLury recommended this site to me. Like him I need to take a course in BC lighthouse. Any info you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again and keep the light shining.

In 1942 I was stationed at Esquimalt as Engineer Officer in the RCNVR. In wartime I did not have the opportunity to visit the nearby Fisgard lighthouse, the oldest on the B.C. coast opened a few months before the light house at Race Rocks. Last year, 57 years later, I toured the Fisgard lighthouse with with my wife enjoying its interesting exhibits. I was disappointed, however, that we could not enter the upper-level stairway leading up to the working light, blocked off for security reasons.
Wonderfull site! I have been fasinated by lighthouses since I was very young.
Thank You for providing this site.
Great Site! Hope to see some of the lights on inside passage cruise this summer. Arriving early to take in the lights in Vancover. A real lihthouse nut and love every minute of it.

Great site guys!

My wife and I were keepers at Merry Island from 1983 to 1985. Some day we would like to do it again.
I like your site; informative and well designed. I thought you might be interested in knowing there's an artist of no small talent doing a series of all the lighthouses on the west coast. You might consider linking to his site.

in person.

My Dad & Mom are light keepers at Quatsino Lightstn. & think it would be nice if all of the hard working light house keepers were mentioned. thanks to Patrick & Lorraine Mckey (mom&dad) and to all the other keepers. keep up the great work !!!

I am taking a boating course with the Canadian Power Squadron. Their training chart shows the waters around Vancouver and many of the lighthouses in the area are shown on this chart. It is very informative being able to see them on a real photo like on this web site. Now all I have to do is get out there in a real boat and look at them!
Great pictures of the lighthouses, it is a shame that so many have been automated.
Very wonderful site
What a wonderful surprise to find this beautiful web site!!! My partner, Danielle, and I are sea kayaking from Sidney, B.C. to Glacier Bay, Alaska, from April 21- the end of September this summer. We really hope to stop at several of the lighthouses to say hello and explore a bit. Thank you for this site, it is wonderful and inspiring. We will soon be listening to the weather all of the lighthouse keepers have worked hard to communicate to us "little people".
Looking for an old friend, a former lighthouse keeper of Estavan Lighthouse. Bobbie Bodnar is the name. If he sees this, post a message back and we can connect.
I am originally from Newfoundland...Moved to T.O. 14 years ago. Just surfing the net for info for a school project for my son on B.C.
I'm saving the site on my Favorites just so I can take it out and look at it now and then. Absolute beauty. Thank you.
