having worked for the Coast Guard in the mail room, distributing mail and packages to the light keepers, it is very nice to see
photos of places I only knew by name. It will be nice when you get stories and histories of the lighthouses to include on the page with the pictures.
I would love to create cross stitch designs for the various light houses, either current or decommissioned. These items are very popular, according to a great
many web pages I have encountered in my searches. I have yet to see Canadian (maybe one or two) lighthouses included in the offerings, though. The ideal would be to get
the drawings from the gentleman at the Coast Guard who is such a great artist (his name escapes me presently), and pictures for the colour. That way, I could get the architecture
correct, and then the colours could be added, later.

I love Lighthouses. Thanks very much for your Webb Page. I enjoyed it very much.

We have visited a number of BC lights, the one we loved the most was Pultney Point on Malcom Is. We met the lady of the light. She was so gracious. My wife had been very ill before we made the trip, and couldn't walk down from the gate, she asked us to drive down so she could see the light, an experience we'll never forget. The BC Coastguard were doing their yearly check with their beautiful red helicopter. What an experience and all thanks to Mrs lighthouse keeper and we didn't even get a name. To allow us to intrude on her privacy was indeed a generous, kind thing to do. Thank you all lighthouse keepers.

Great Site! We including Fisgard Light in our new mural in Sidney. We are including it to make people more aware of the importance of ALL lighthouses, and hopefully to help prevent more de-staffing of these valuable navigational assistants. We are also giving your site a link from ours.

Really liked the photographs. I didn't realize there were so many Lighthouses on the Pacific coast of Canada.

|
last summer (98) we spend 12 days in Bamfield, we tried to have a look at the lighthouse over there and show it to our kids ,but we haven't been able to find it. Few days later, in a store in Bamfield we heard somebody talking French to each other, we start chatting with them in French and telling them about our vacation in this georgeous spot. We were talking (without knowning) to the couple lighthouse keepers. We like to let you know than by your openness, your (joie de vivre), your devotion to your new job... you light up our stay in Bamfield and stimulate a keen interest in lighthouse as building and as a style of living. Do you have a picture of your place? Thank you!
|
I will be visiting B.C. in August and want to explore your lighthouses. Thanks for the info.
|
If I had seen your excellent site before I had done mine, I might have been accused of plagiarism.
But I assure you, we spend a delightful two weeks on P.E.I. last July and then spent the winter putting the stuff together.
I like many features of your pages, and we hope to be up there this year.
Your site will help us focus on our stay.
The site is temporarily at:

Many thanks...

I AM NOW A LOVER OF LIGHTHOUSES!
|
I didn't know that there were that lighthouses
in B.C. I will return to your site in the comming moths to gather more
information for our vacation in B.C. and Alberta next year.
|
This is such a beautiful site. The pictures are wonderful. I only have one comment about the set up of the pictues; I wish they were bigger.I've been to Dryad, Ivory, Bonilla, and most of the ones in between. Dryad Point is my favorite.
Closing lighthouses is an awful thing to do. I know there's a lot of politics to deal with, but I think about the people living there and it all seems so cold hearted. Imagine living most of your life in one place, raising your children there. Then having to move because the government doesn't care that lighthouses save lives. It seems me like they just want to save money at the expense of boaters. But that's just my own thoughts.
|
I really loved looking at this site. I am in fact a daughter of a light house keeper on the west coast, His name is Harvey Bergen. He works on Bonilla Island right now and is the head lighthouse keeper. I lived at Dryad Point for 14 years before we moved to Bonilla. Well, I'd just like to say thanks for letting me look on in at these sites again while I am in school in the south. Bye for now.
|
YOUR WEB SITE IS VERY NICE,I FOUND IT VERY INTERESTING.
|
What a great website!
I've only been to Fisgard, but will be back in beautiful BC in a few weeks and plan to see every lighthouse that time allows.
Keep those lights shining.
